about us
what is The Vendée Globe?
The Vendée Globe is a solo, non-stop, unassisted, round-the-world yacht race. It takes courage, perseverance, resilience, and passion to compete.
The Vendée Globe is widely acknowledged to be the toughest ocean race. Only the world's best skippers are able to compete.

the 'everest of the seas'
Nicknamed the ‘Everest of the Seas’, the Vendée Globe race is a circumnavigation of the globe, over 44,000KM, taking up to 3 months.
This non-stop race is sailed solo; the skipper must sail completely alone without external help or support for the entire route.
Taking place every 4 years, it takes courage, endurance, resilience and passion to compete.
Only 114 people have ever crossed the finish line, only half the sailors who start the race ever finish!
During the race, Ollie will have to sail through some of the harshest conditions and most remote places on the planet.
At times, sailors will be closer to astronauts on the International Space Station than to anyone on Earth.
2024 race schedule
The schedule comprises of 18 races over 4 years in 13 different countries, culminating with the Vendée Globe. This is known as the IMOCA Globe Series. This series includes the most prestigious solo, double-handed and crewed extreme sailing races in the world.
Sailors must compete in the IMOCA Globe Series as part of a gruelling qualification process to prove their eligibility to race in the Vendee Globe, making them the "BEST" sailors in the world.
Oliver completed his qualification in 2022, but a lot of training and preparation is still required before the next edition of the Vendée Globe race starts in November 2024.
