As we celebrate one year of partnership between Portier Yachts and Oliver Heer Ocean Racing, we’re excited to introduce you to the company behind the name on our sails.
Founded in 1815 as a small workshop repairing fishing vessels on Lake Zurich, Portier Yachts has grown into the leading full-service boatyard on the 88 km² lake. Since January 2021, the company has been managed by Dominique Weber, the seventh generation of the founding family. His father left the company completely at the beginning of this year.
While honouring their 200-year heritage, Portier Yachts today boasts a modern infrastructure for the repair and renovation of motor and sailing boats. They offer lift-out and storage facilities, along with an impressive showroom.
Dedicated to investing in people, Portier Yachts also runs a full training centre, accommodating up to four apprentices at a time.
Dominique Weber, Managing Director, shares: “Yachtwerft Portier AG is passionate about all forms of boating and sailing. Oliver Heer Ocean Racing and our business are on the same course, both aiming for sustainable success and considering all stakeholders.
We are incredibly proud to support Ollie, who grew up nearby and learned to sail on Lake Zurich. He is an inspiration to us as he takes on the immense challenges of sailing the world's oceans alone. We are cheering him on as he prepares for the greatest challenge of all, the Vendée Globe.”
Ollie adds, “We are immensely grateful to the team at Yachtwerft Portier for their ongoing support. For me, Portier is a perfect partner – we are both family businesses, we share the same values, and of course, we are both passionate about sailing!”
