Race Start Day - 10th November
On Sunday 10th November, the 40 skippers of the Vendée Globe will start the 10th edition of the legendary solo, non-stop, round-the-world race.
After 3 weeks in the race village, the skippers will now have to leave the crowds of fans and supporters, and finally embark on their solo mission. From 8am (local French time) the boats will depart from the pontoon, one by one, every 3 minutes. Due to his position on the pontoon, Ollie will be the 37th boat to depart, at just after 9.45am. The race starts at 13:02.
The boats will exit the famous channel of Les Sables d’Olonne, lined with hundreds of thousands of spectators taking the final opportunity to cheer for each of the courageous skippers.
How to Watch
The start line is set 14km out at sea. Once the boats have departed the marina, there will be plenty of ways to watch the action on the screen, to follow the start and the first few miles of racings.
The Vendee Globe race organisers will broadcast two live transmissions,
7:30 – 10:00am to watch the dock outs of each skipper and boat.
12:15 – 2:00pm to cover the start at 13:02 and the first few miles of the course. Each boat will send a livestream to the race organisers who will make a compilation of action footage from all of the competitors with a commentary.
